The First Supper

This is one of my favourites, because it is very different to my other songs. This and another song "Flaming Love, Burning Desire" are such masterpieces from the Spirit ><. Like with these two songs, I really can't make them any better, because I am completely satisfied with every word, and it amazes me SO MUCH, EVERY TIME, that this song is so PERFECT [to me anyway xD! [I will probably talk more from an arts perspective for this song than my others xD] It's amazing that with such rich and touching metaphors and symbolisms, it rhymes, without a single inconsistency, because usually rhyme disrupts ideas and flow in a poem, and vice versa, but this does not happen in this song. Truly this song can only be God's work - truly divine inspiration x].

I LOVE the Spirit for giving me the idea for this song. I was flipping through my diaries not long ago, and I discovered that He planted the idea for this song when I was in year 8 already [2004 from a poetry assignment LOL].

This song describes a romantic supper between the Lord and me, and it is symbolically our first encounter. It is supposed to be a word play on "The Last Supper", which was right before His sufferings, and during this "dinner", He tells me the story of how He found me - the gospel, based on His crucifixion. As we dine, He uses many things on the table and around us to remind me of His love; the different aspects of His suffering/passion. When it approaches the chorus, He invites me to waltz with Him on the dance floor, telling me of His desire for me, calling me to respond to His love. Later, He asks me to live with Him an eternal union, and I say, "Yes." telling Him that I will walk in steps of three, to echo His heart towards me, that beats 3 words; "I love you!" all day long. I initially composed this song in imitation-triple-time for the waltz and romantic dining feel, and as I continued with the song, the Spirit revealed to me the beats of 3 + "I love you" idea hehe.

And in the end, I respond to His love, giving Him my all =].

This song also has tinges of Song of Solomon in it =]
